Danny Shittu admits he will take his time before deciding his next club, after being released by Bolton on Wednesday.

Shittu made just 12 appearances in two years at the Reebok Stadium following a £2million move from Watford. He, however, failed to make a single appearance last term and does not feature in the plans of Owen Coyle.

The 30-year-old is currently on international duty with Nigeria and plans to sort out his future upon his return to England.

"I believe quitting Bolton was the right step to take as I didn't have options to play at Bolton," Shittu told Sky Sports.

"I wish the club all the best in the future and now I have to find myself a new club.

"I am now reviewing my options and there are quite a few sides interested in me from Europe and the Middle East.

"Hopefully I can announce where my future lies shortly after I return from international duty."
