Bolton have confirmed the departure of Ricardo Vaz Te after his contract expired with the club.

Vaz Te moved to the Reebok Stadium from SC Farense in 2003 and after impressing during his early games at youth and reserve team level, was handed a first-team debut an the FA Cup tie at Tranmere Rovers in January 2004.

He is perhaps best remembered for a wondergoal against Vitoria Guimaraes in 2005, a result which helped Wanderers advance into the last 32 of the UEFA Cup, before being eliminated by Marseille.

Despite making 78 appearances for the club, he could only manage six goals and has missed much of the last three seasons through injury, prompting boss Owen Coyle to release the once-promising youngster, who is now 23-years-old.

Following Vaz Te out of the door will be Zoltan Harsanyi, Stuart McDonald and Chris Stokes, who had a loan spell at Crewe Alexandra earlier this season.

Gavin McCann is also out of contract this summer but will be given a chance to earn a new deal during a trial period, once he recovers from ankle surgery.

Meanwhile, Temitope Obadeyi, Rob Lainton and Sam Sheridan have all signed one-year extensions to their current deals, taking them through until the end of next season.
