After opening his goalscoring account for Bolton in the 1-0 win over Wolves, Zat Knight insists he was happy to see the team pick up three points.

Since signing from Aston Villa last summer, the 29-year-old has struggled for form but has been one of the success stories since the appointment of Owen Coyle.

After scoring at one end and helping to keep a clean sheet at the other, Knight believes the club can build on the result with games against fellow strugglers still to come.

"I think that it (the goal) has been long overdue," Knight told the club's official website.

"Before all the recent games the lads have said that it was about time I scored, so it was nice to get the winner.

"It's very special to score my first goal for the club and it's also my son's birthday today, which is a nice present him.

"But getting the three points was important. Although our home form has been very good, it has been frustrating not to have scored as many goals as we'd have liked.

"We've got a big win and now we need that to continue. We've got 11 more games and they are all cup finals.

"The games against West Ham, Sunderland and Wigan are massive and we need to capitalise on our win today."
