After Bolton were eliminated from the FA Cup by Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night, Owen Coyle believes the 4-0 scoreline flattered Harry Redknapp's side.

A brace from Roman Pavlyuchenko and own goals from Jussi Jaaskelainen and Andy O'Brien respectively, sealed Spurs' route into the sixth round of the competition where they will face a trip to Fulham.

The Wanderers boss believes there was a foul in the build-up to the first goal which, from then on, left his side chasing the game.

"In the build-up to the first goal Sam Ricketts had been clearly blocked and when the move broke down he was out of position and Tottenham scored," Coyle said.

"We would have defended that better, but it was a big moment in the game. I was fed up that we never seemed to get those decisions.

"They scored two goals and we scored the other two for them.

"I'm disappointed because we created a number of good opportunities, but we just need someone to finish them off.

"I wish Tottenham well, but I didn't think that 4-0 was a fair reflection."

It was the sixth time in the last seven games that Bolton have failed to score, adding extra importance to the weekend visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
