Bolton caretaker boss Chris Evans was happy with the way his side responded to a tough week by beating Lincoln City 4-0.

After a goalless first half at the Reebok Stadium, goals from Moses Swaibu(og), Lee Chung-Yong, Gary Cahill and Mark Davies put Wanderers into Sunday's fourth round draw at the expense of their League 2 opponents.

Following the sacking of Gary Megson last Wednesday, Evans admitted he was delighted with the result and the professionalism shown by the players.

"It is very difficult when the attention of the football world and the media are on you," Evans told Sky Sports.

"Steve Wigley, Alan Cork and the staff worked very hard, especially in regard to the mindset of the players. We did a professional job and are pleased to be in the hat.

"We had to pick a side that was going to get a result. People say the FA Cup has lost its magic but, as a traditional football man, I love it. I feel we have a duty of care to the competition.

"I believe there is now a real chance of ongoing success. The manager who comes in will have reason to feel positive about the future as we have solid foundations.

"We will come in on Monday, ready to work hard. It is about hard work, it is about focus. It is incumbent on us to do the best we can."
