Bolton avoided possibly the biggest FA Cup shock of the weekend by beating League 2 strugglers Lincoln City at the Reebok Stadium.

An own goal from Moses Swaibu put Wanderers infront four minutes after the break, before Lee Chung-Yong doubled the lead just a minute later.

The visitors never recovered from that double blow and late goals from Gary Cahill and Mark Davies sealed Bolton's place in the next round.

Despite the scoreline, the first half was a poor spectacle with neither side having a cutting edge in the final third.

Chung-Yong had the first chance of the game after 13 minutes, but after a pressing run from midfield he shot over from the edge of the area.

Cahill was next to try his luck for the hosts, only to see his shot blocked before being cleared to safety.

On 18 minutes, Fabrice Muamba found Ivan Klasnic just outside the area. The Croatian turned well and curled an effort just the wrong side of Rob Burch's post.

Klasnic tried his luck again closer to the break but once again shot wide after being set-up by Matt Taylor.

In a rare moment, on 37 minutes, Lincoln burst forward and after Joe Anderson had picked out the run of Chris Herd, he sent the ball goalwards with Ali Al Habsi having to make his first save of the afternoon.

After the restart, Bolton soon found themselves infront in fortuitous circumstances. Taylor's cross from the left flank caused havoc in the City defence and Swaibu sliced the ball into his own net.

Then, just a minute later, Klasnic skipped clear down the left before cutting inside and pulling the ball back for Chung-Yong who placed his shot into the corner.

Taylor came close to adding a third just after the hour, capitalising on some poor defensive work before seeing his half-volley crash back off the crossbar.

Substitute Johan Elmander sent a shot high and wide with 10 minutes to go, before the result was put beyond all doubt.

After a short corner, Kevin Davies crossed to the far post for Cahill to rise highest and nod the ball past Burch for his sixth of the season.

Looking to salvage something from their trip, Lincoln pressed forward and Al Habsi had to be at his best to prevent Herd's deflected shot from going into the top corner.

Then, to add insult to injury, Wanderers added a fourth in stoppage time after Paul Robinson picked out Mark Davies who poked the ball home to seal victory.

Wanderers return to Premier League action on Wednesday night when they face a tough trip to Arsenal.
