After his sacking at Bolton, Gary Megson has been offered the chance to get back into the game with Stoke City.

Megson left his managerial role at the Reebok on Wednesday after just over two years at the helm and has worked previously at the Britannia Stadium, leading to Tony Pulis inviting him back.

"I'll give Gary a couple of days to let things settle down, but then when he's kicking his heels, he can come back here to help us out if he likes," Pulis told Stoke's official website.

"He worked here for nothing back in 2007 and that got him back into the swing of things before he went on to manage Leicester and then Bolton, so the offer will be there again when he wants to get his boots back on and return to the training ground.

"I've got a lot of respect for certain people within the game, and Gary is definitely one of them. He's an honest chap who loves his football and works very hard.

"Some of the criticism he's had, I just don't think he has deserved it. I believe he did a good job at Bolton, so it is very much their loss that he is no longer their manager.

"I've known Gary since he was a young lad, so I know how much he cared and how much it will have hurt him what has gone on at Bolton.

"But I am sure he will bounce back and I know he has a lot to offer the game, so he is more than welcome to come here and work with us."
