Bolton and Hull City both end the year in the relegation zone after fighting out a 2-2 draw at the Reebok Stadium.

Goals either side of the break from Ivan Klasnic and Kevin Davies had Wanderers 2-0 up just after the hour, but a late brace from Stephen Hunt meant the game ended all square.

Klasnic and Lee Chung-Yong both fired early attempts over the crossbar, while Fabrice Muamba came close with a scorching half-volley.

With 20 minutes on the clock, the deadlock was broken. Zat Knight's long ball from the back was knocked down by Chung-Yong and Klasnic fired a low strike past the Hull goalkeeper to open the scoring.

Andy Dawson almost hauled the visitors level almost immediately, but his free-kick was punched away by Jussi Jaaskelainen, who was alert once more to deny Jozy Altidore moments later.

In the 35th minute, Jaaskelainen made a meal of a cross and the ball fell to Hunt who's goalbound header deflected off Gretar Steinsson and behind for a corner.

Altidore sent a free-kick wide just before the break as Bolton led after an uneventful first 45 minutes.

Just before the hour, Phil Brown's side should have equalised but Kamil Zayatte headed wide from a corner when it looked easier to score.

Wanderers then went down the other end to double their lead. Paul Robinson's free-kick was aimed towards Davies and he outmuscled Bernard Mendy before flicking the ball over the onrushing Boaz Myhill to double Bolton's advantage.

Gary Cahill almost added a third moments later, but his shot was deflected wide by Anthony Gardner.

Next, Hull's comeback began as Wanderers continued their unwanted run of not keeping a clean sheet in the league all season.

Craig Fagan rushed past Robinson on the flank before crossing for Hunt who got inbetween the defensive partnership of Cahill and Knight to head past Jaaskelainen from close range.

Then, just eight minutes later, Hull were level. A long ball from the back picked out Hunt, who had ghosted past Steinsson, and he struck past Jaaskelainen from a tight angle, despite the best efforts of Robinson on the goal line.

Steinsson almost won it late on for Bolton, but his deflected effort sailed agonisingly wide of the post as the game ended all square.

Bolton were booed off the field at full time, with fans citing Gary Megson's decision to replace Klasnic with Gavin McCann as the reason why.

The result means Wanderers remain in the bottom three, with a daunting trip to Arsenal on the horizon after Saturday's FA Cup third round tie with Lincoln City.
