Bolton travel to Burnley on Boxing Day, hoping to avoid a second fixture postponement in a week.

After Monday night's game at Wigan Athletic was called off, Wanderers sit in the bottom three at Christmas, but with two games in hand on most of their near rivals.

Victory at the DW Stadium would have seen Gary Megson's side jump above Saturday's opponents in the Premier League table ahead of their first competitive trip to Turf Moor in 9 years.

Megson has a couple of selection issues on his hands. Fabrice Muamba will miss the game through suspension, with Chris Basham the favourite to deputise, although Gavin McCann could return following an ankle injury.

Club record signing Johan Elmander has spoken of his current frustration with his position at the club, but he is once again expected to start on the bench with Ivan Klasnic partnering Kevin Davies in attack.

Gary Cahill will return to his former club. Cahill made 32 appearances for the Clarets in the 2004/05 season, scoring one goal.

Former Wanderers favourite and current Burnley manager Owen Coyle has selection troubles at the heart of his defence.

Both Steven Caldwell and Clarke Carlisle limped out of their defeat at Wolves with groin injuries, meaning Michael Duff, Joey Gudjonsson and Andre Bikey will all be pushing for a start.

Tyrone Mears is doubtful with a head injury and will be given a late fitness test prior to the Boxing Day fixture.
