Despite appearing just 12 times for Bolton, Danny Shittu still holds hope of claiming a regular first team spot, according to his advisor.

Shittu moved to the Reebok Stadium from Watford in the summer of 2008 for a fee of around £2million, but has failed to establish himself in the side and is yet to figure this season due to injury.

He looks set to represent Nigeria in the African Cup of Nations next month, and, upon return to England, has got his sights set on the Wanderers first team.

"Danny wants to be playing at Bolton, end of story," Eddie Duah told Sky Sports.

"If that doesn't happen and they look to sell then that is something he will have to look at.

"But as I said, January will be an important time for him and hopefully the ACN will kick-start his season."
