Bolton captain Kevin Davies has revealed how he called a players meeting following the defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Following the 2-1 loss at Molineux a fortnight ago, Wanderers were left 19th in the Premier League table, just two points above bottom side Portsmouth.

However, a draw with Manchester City, followed up with a win over fellow strugglers West Ham United over the last week have pulled the club out of the bottom three, with Davies admitting some of the players needed to 'stand up' and improve.

"After losing at Wolves I sensed a massive change," said Davies.

"I had a meeting with the boys. I said 'we're in this position and we're the ones that got us into it, so we're the ones who will get us out of it. We are not going to hide behind managers, hide behind formations'.

"A few said a few things and it showed in the performances. It's only because people care.

"We had to stand up and be responsible for where we are."

With Wanderers not playing until Monday night, they could possibly drop back into the relegation zone at the weekend ahead of the trip to Wigan Athletic.
