Under-fire Bolton striker Johan Elmander looks set for a spell on the sidelines after appearing to injure his hamstring in a reserve game.

The Sweden international was in the side that beat Wigan Athletic reserves 3-0 on Monday night, but had to be replaced after 29 minutes.

His replacement, Danny Ward, later went on to score a late brace after Ricardo Vaz Te had given Wanderers the lead inside 14 minutes at Leyland.

Elmander has a history of hamstring problems and had more than one spell on the sidelines last season through injury.
