Gary Cahill believes he has the qualities to play for England, having already made the squad twice this year.

England boss Fabio Capello was in attendance on Saturday as Bolton beat Birmingham City at St.Andrews and would have been impressed with another good performance from the Bolton defender.

Cahill is currently being tipped for a place in the World Cup squad next summer, despite facing stiff competition from a number of Premier League defenders. Despite this, the 23-year-old is confident that his chance will come soon.

"I definitely think I can play for England one day," Cahill said.

"You have got to have that confidence in your own ability."

Cahill joined Bolton from Aston Villa for £5million in January 2008 and has scored 5 goals in 59 appearances for the club.
