Bolton boss Gary Megson has paid tribute to Jussi Jaaskelainen after his testimonial against Hibernian.

The Wanderers goalkeeper, who is close to completing 12-years with the club, kept a clean sheet on his big day, leading to the Wanderers chief praising the 34-year-old.

"He's not only one of the best goalkeepers I've worked with but also one of the finest in the country," Megson told the club's official website.

"It's a great testament to the club that they've managed to keep a goalkeeper at the club for so long."

As for the match itself, Megson thought his side showed glimpses of their quality, but failed to create the goalscoring opportunities they need.

"I thought there was some really good stuff, especially in the first-half there were a lot of good performances," he said.

"As usual in pre-season, as players start to tire the pitch got too big. We weren't squeezing out and getting hold of it at the front.

"There was some good stuff but I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get on the score sheet given the number of chances we had."
