Jussi Jaaskelainen kept a clean sheet in his testimonial match, as Bolton were held to a goalless draw by Hibernian.

Wanderers started the game brightly, keeping possession well and almost finding an early breakthrough, but Ricardo Gardner headed wide from close range.

The promising start didn't last and both sides had spells of possession without creating any clear-cut opportunities.

Derek Riordan called Jaaskelainen into action with a free kick after 15 minutes, with the Finland international equal to his effort.

Gardner soon came close again for the hosts, seeing his curling effort fly just wide of Ma-Kalambay's post.

Just after the half hour, Kevin Davies headed over the bar from Sam Ricketts' teasing cross before Ma-Kalambay pulled off a superb stop to deny Davies a couple of minutes later.

With ten minutes of the first half remaining, Hibs almost took the lead in spectacular fashion, but Colin Nish's 35-yard lob sailed just wide of Jaaskelainen's goal, with the keeper beaten.

A good move involving Davies and Gardner resulted in Johan Elmander forcing the visiting goalkeeper into action, with Paul Robinson shooting over from the rebound.

Summer signing Sean Davis had the first chance after the break, shooting straight at Ma-Kalambay before things once again went quiet on the action front.

Midway through the second period, Matt Taylor saw two strikes fly off-target, with Elmander and Gardner also going close in a matter of minutes.

Gary Cahill should have broken the deadlock late-on, but his strike from just inside the area flew just wide of the Hibernian goal, with the goalkeeper stranded.

Then, the visitors almost spoiled Jaaskelainen's day as a mix-up between the goalkeeper and Zat Knight allowed David Wotherspoon a late opportunity, but the Bolton 'keeper recovered to make the save.

The game ended goalless, meaning Wanderers' first team ended pre-season unbeaten and Jaaskelainen claimed a treasured clean sheet on his big day.
