Bolton began their pre-season campaign with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Leigh Genesis.

Zoltan Harsanyi, Temitope Obadeyi and Danny Ward were all on the scoresheet as Wanderers stormed into a 3-0 first-half lead, before Chris Thompson pulled one back for the hosts after the break.

Obadeyi rounded off his superb display with a second goal 12 minutes from time, beating goalkeeper Jamie Waldron from the penalty spot.

Wanderers had the lead inside five minutes, with a good move involving Ward and Michael O'Halloran resulting in Harsanyi finding space inside the area and shooting past Steven Drench from close range.

Drench was soon called into action again, with Obadeyi's snap shot forcing the goalkeeper into a smart stop, but the striker would open his account for pre-season with his next effort.

After a smart run down the right, O'Halloran's cut back was inch perfect for Obadeyi who hammered the ball home to double Bolton's lead.

Sam Sheridan forced Drench into another fine save from a free-kick and Adam Blakeman then saw a long-range shot blocked, before former Wanderers striker Matt Jansen almost capitalised on a moment of indecision from keeper Rob Lainton.

Three minutes before the break the game was over as a contest as a poor clearance from Drench fell kindly to Ward who lobbed the ball into the empty net beyond the unfortunate keeper.

Bolton went close again after the break, with Obadeyi's flick header going across the face of goal with Rhys Bennett unable to make the final touch at the far post.

The hosts then gave their supporters something to cheer as Thompson pulled one back just before the hour, heading past Lainton from close range.

That goal seemed to boost Genesis and Lainton had to be on hand to deny Dale Whitham from distance, before Andy Heald shot just wide.

After a number of substitutions from both sides, Obadeyi completed the victory late on, scoring from the spot after he had been upended inside the area.

Wanderers return to action on Saturday, with the first team travelling to Germany to face Borussia Monchengladbach, while the reserves and academy link up once again to face Altrincham.
