Denise Hendry, the wife of former Bolton defender Colin, has died at the age of 42.

The mother of four has battled with illness for seven years, after suffering nine punctures to her bowel and colon during a botched liposuction operation in 2002.

The injuries she received caused her to suffer a series of health problems, from blood poisoning, multi-organ failure and a cardiac arrest.

Denise had been at the Salford Royal Hospital for the last three months with a brain infection and only opened her eyes once during that spell.

She underwent a final 16-hour operation in May, which was the final treatment for her illness, but sustained a meningitis-type infection whilst on the operating table.

Denise leaves Colin and their four children, Ltor Rheagan, 20, Callum, 10, Niamh, 9, and Kyle, 18.

Everybody at Burnden Aces would like to send their condolences to the Hendry family at this difficult time.
