New Bolton signing Sean Davis has revealed his frustration at the way Portsmouth dealt with contract negotiations.

The 29-year-old completed his move to the Reebok Stadium on Wednesday, after his contract expired with the south coast club, but Davis has admitted he could have stayed at Fratton Park had officials not dragged their feet over a new deal.

"A deal could have been sorted out in January. Tony Adams offered me a deal, but they kept mucking me about over little things and couldn't agree on anything," Davis told Sky Sports.

"The contract ran out and I didn't hear anything, so I thought I'd go somewhere I'd be appreciated.

"When I say appreciated I don't mean anything against the (Portsmouth) fans, they were great to me, always behind me, the atmosphere was great and they were one of the special things there.

"But upstairs I didn't feel appreciated enough. The contract could have been sorted months ago.

"There is no bitterness - I'm a Bolton player now.

"After I spoke to the manager there was only one decision - to join Bolton Wanderers.

"I don't want to dwell on it too much. You've got to move on and I'm looking forward to a fresh start."
