Bolton have completed the signing of Sean Davis from Portsmouth on a free transfer.

The 29-year-old has signed a three-year contract at the Reebok Stadium and becomes Gary Megson's first signing of the summer.

The Wanderers boss was delighted to have completed the signing of a man he had tracked since the turn of the year.

"We are delighted to have signed such an experienced Premier League footballer in Sean Davis," Megson told the club's official website.

"Sean made 40 appearances last season for Portsmouth and he will strengthen our midfield.

"We wanted to bring him to the Reebok in January but our bid of £3.5million was turned down by Portsmouth, who didn't want him to leave."

Meanwhile, the player has also expressed his delight at completing the move, stating Megson's long-term interest was a major factor in his decision.

"I'm very happy that my future is sorted and that I have signed a three-year contract," Davis said.

"Bolton showed a genuine interest in January and I found that hugely encouraging. It is an exciting opportunity, not just for me but my family as well.

"I'm really looking forward to getting back and I'll be raring to go at the start of the season. I just want to come to Bolton and work hard, enjoy my football and take the club forward.

"I have got some friends here already in Matt Taylor and Andy O'Brien who both spoke highly of the Manager and the set-up. It's always nice when there are familiar faces at a new club and I'm sure that it will help me to bed in with the rest of the squad.

"Bolton Wanderers has got modern facilities and a great stadium, plus I wanted to move to a club where I can play my football and be appreciated."
