Matt Taylor believes Kevin Davies deserves an England call-up after his superb form for Bolton this season.

The Wanderers skipper notched his tenth goal of the season at the weekend, his 50th for the club, and despite making the provisional 32-man England squad earlier this month, ultimately missed out on the final cut.

But Taylor, who was also on the scoresheet against West Ham, believes Davies has the ability to continue his goalscoring form and earn a call-up.

"Davo has done massively well for us today and he has done over the season, to be honest," Taylor told the club's official website.

"It's nice to see good professionals and good players get goals and for him to get the credit he deserves because he hasn't done in the past.

"I wouldn't want to play against him and you can see today that one of England's centre-halves (Matthew Upson) didn't want to play against him - that's the way it is every single week.

"To see him putting the ball in the back of the net is fantastic and obviously when you score the goals, you get more media attention, which he has done.

"He and Gary (Cahill) got called into the provisional England squad, which is great, and it also proves that playing at Bolton can bring other honours along with it.

"I'm really chuffed for him, it's good for him to get ten goals and hopefully he will end up with around 15."
