Bolton skipper Kevin Davies believes the club can push for a European place next season.

After a slow start to the campaign, Wanderers now lie in mid-table, seven points clear of the bottom three.

Davies believes Bolton should be aiming for a top half finish this term and be ready to hit the ball rolling from the off next season, pushing for a place in what will be the newly named UEFA Europa League.

"This season we've only just pushed away from it [the drop zone]," Davies told Sky Sports.

"With the squad we've got we always feel we can push on and we want to get into the top half of the table really. That's our first goal.

"I think we can try and secure a top ten finish this year. It gives us a bit more stability building on from last year and it's something we can try and build on next year.

"We want to try and start challenging for the European places really.

"The home games are the really important ones for us. We have six left and we feel we can win all of them. Hopefully that'll encourage us to go and pick some points away from home as well."
