Bolton captain Kevin Davies has admitted he is looking to score more goals and potentially earn an England call-up before the end of the season.

The 31-year-old scored his 50th goal for the club in Saturday's victory over West Ham, his tenth of the season, putting him amongst the leading goalscorers in the Premier League.

After the game, Davies expressed his delight at the milestone, but believes he still has more to offer in the final three months of the campaign.

"It's nice to score 50 for the club and I'm just delighted it's proved to be the winning goal - that's the main thing for me," Davies said.

"I'm not too concerned if I score and we lose - it doesn't mean anything really. But the goals have come for me this year and I'm delighted with that and I just want to keep it going.

"I don't feel that I'm missing chances, I tend to get one or two and I have to try and put them away to get goals.

"I'm just enjoying playing, getting in there and the chances that I'm getting, I'm managing to take. I don't think I'm doing anything different, it's just been one of those seasons.

"I had a decent start and obviously got the confidence going, things start dropping for me and the goals started coming. There's no real reason for that, perhaps I've been trying to get in better areas to score."

After recently making the provisional 32-man squad for England's friendly with Spain, Davies has targetted a future call.

"I'd love it to happen," he admitted.

"Now I'm captain it's probably the most enjoyable time of my career. I've had a few close calls but hopefully I'll get the chance."
