Bolton will be looking to bounce back from defeat at Liverpool and end the year in winning fashion when they face Wigan Athletic.

Wanderers began the Christmas period with a dismal defeat at Anfield, while Wigan came out 2-1 winners in a controversial game with Newcastle at the JJB Stadium.

Bolton have just two victories in seven attempts against their local rivals and will be looking to improve their record against the Latics on Sunday.

Gary Megson looks set to recall Kevin Davies to the side after he was dropped to the bench against Liverpool, meaning Fabrice Muamba or Ricardo Gardner could drop to the bench.

Gary Cahill is a doubt for the game with a back injury, leaving Danny Shittu and Chris Basham on stand-by, while Gretar Steinsson should continue at right-back.

Jlloyd Samuel was brought off at the break at Anfield, but should return at left back.

Lee Cattermole will be missing for the visitors after picking up his fifth booking of the season on Boxing Day, but Ryan Taylor should be fit despite picking up cramp in the same game.

Should Taylor miss out, Michael Brown, Daniel De Ridder and Jason Koumas will all be hoping to get the nod.

Amr Zaki has returned from injury and should partner Emile Heskey in attack.
