Bolton's 54-year wait for a league win at Anfield will continue as they were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by Liverpool.

Albert Riera put the hosts ahead midway through the first half, before a second half double from Robbie Keane sealed an easy three points for the league leaders.

The game started slowly and Bolton skipper Kevin Nolan had the first half chance of the game, but Pepe Reina made a simple save to deny him.

Emiliano Insua forced Jussi Jaaskelainen into a smart stop with a 20-yard volley from a Steven Gerrard corner as Liverpool looked to step up a gear.

Dirk Kuyt headed over from a Xabi Alonso cross soon after, but it wasn't long before the deadlock was broken.

From yet another Gerrard corner, Riera lost the attention of Jlloyd Samuel, beat Johan Elmander to the ball and volleyed past Jaaskelainen at the near post to give the hosts a deserved lead.

Jamie Carragher tried his luck five minutes before the break, but his shot flew over Jaaskelainen's crossbar.

After naming Kevin Davies on the bench, Wanderers boss Gary Megson brought him on at the break, replacing Samuel as he looked for more aggression going forward.

But less than 10 minutes after the restart, the game was over as a contest as Keane doubled Liverpool's advantage.

After getting behind the Wanderers defence, the Republic of Ireland international unleashed a smart strike beyond Jaaskelainen after being played in by Gerrard.

Then, just five minutes later, Keane added to his tally as Liverpool hit Bolton on the counter attack.

After claiming a corner, Reina released the ball to Alonso, who after crossing the half way line, played the ball wide to Yossi Benayoun who crossed for Keane to slot home for a third.

Substitute Ebi Smolarek went close for Bolton with time running out, shooting just wide of Reina's left hand post after a smart move.

Jaaskelainen prevented Bolton from conceding a fourth late on, first denying Benayoun and then David Ngog, but in truth there was only going to be one winner.

Liverpool remain top of the table, with Bolton lying in 10th place ahead of the visit of Wigan Athletic on Sunday afternoon.
