Jussi Jaaskelainen is hoping Bolton can put an end to their miserable run at Anfield by beating Liverpool on Boxing Day.

Wanderers have not won a league game at Anfield since 1954, when goals from Willie Moir and Dennis Stevens helped Bill Ridding's side to a 2-1 victory.

Despite a 3-2 victory over the Reds in a 2003 Carling Cup tie, Bolton have lost on all but one of their visits since returning to the Premier League in 2001, a run which Jaaskelainen hopes will end this time round.

"We have had a terrible run there," Jaaskelainen told The Bolton News.

"I can't remember getting any good results there apart from in the cup a few years ago.

"We have played well there a couple of times but come away with nothing.

"It is definitely going to be a tough game but we have to go there and hope we can get a result.

"You always believe when you go into any game that you have the chance to do well.

"We need to stick to the gameplan, work hard and see where that leads us."
