Five of Bolton's international contingent were in action over the weekend and none of them were involved in defeats.

Ricardo Gardner played the entire 90 minutes as Jamaica pulled off a big shock, beating Sven-Goran Eriksson's Mexico side 1-0.

Nigeria are still in with a shout of qualification for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa. Danny Shittu was in their side as they coasted to a 4-1 victory over Sierra Leone in the African section.

Ebi Smolarek also played the full game as Poland pulled off a big shock, beating the Czech Republic 2-1.

Jussi Jaaskelainen kept a clean sheet as Finland continued their recent good form with a 1-0 win over Azerbaijan. Former Chelsea and Birmingham man Mikael Forssell scored the winning goal.

Johan Elmander was back in the Sweden squad after recovering from injury, but he was guilty of missing a number of opportunities as his side played out a goalless draw with Portugal in Solna.

Wanderers had five other players involved over the weekend, none of which featured for their respective countries.
