After a bad day for Bolton, the club have been rocked by the news that Jussi Jaaskelainen will miss the rest of the season.

Jaaskelainen has missed the last three games with a back injury sustained whilst warming up against Sporting Lisbon ten days ago.

Speaking after the 1-0 defeat to Wigan at the JJB Stadium, Bolton manager Gary Megson confirmed the Finland international will not play again this season.

"He needs six weeks of rest to try and resolve his problem, and he is also going to need some form of surgery," Megson told the club's official website.

"Either way, his season is over."

Until today, the goalkeeper had been a Premier League ever-present for the last three seasons.

Jaaskelainen has been a key figure for Bolton since his move in 1997, but with his contract set to expire in the summer, he may well have played his last game for the club.
