Stuart Holden joined Bolton from American side Houston Dynamo in January 2010 after impressing during a trial with the club.
He initially struggled with injuries but made his debut in an FA Cup tie at Tottenham Hotspur in February. However, his progress was halted after sustaining a broken leg whilst on international duty with the USA shortly afterwards.
Talks to keep the midfielder at the club began in May 2010, but a deal has yet to be concluded.
