In January 2008, Tamir Cohen became Gary Megson's first signing as Bolton manager when he joined from Israeli side Maccabi Netanya for a fee of £47,000.

Cohen represented his country at Under 16, 19 and 21 levels and has also played for the senior side on numerous occasions.

The Israeli scored his first goal for Bolton in a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in March 2008, a club his father, Avi, played for during his professional career.
