With Bolton set to jet out to America next week, Owen Coyle has admitted he will use the tour to take a close look at Danny Ward.
Ward is back at the club following an impressive loan spell at Swindon Town last season, where he scored nine goals in 32 appearances for the League One side.
He came close to helping the Robins clinch promotion last season, but they were ultimately beaten by Millwill in the play-off final at Wembley in May.
Coyle admits other clubs are closely monitoring the 18-year-old, but he will be given the chance to earn a place in the Bolton side during pre-season.
"I am going to have a right good look at him (Ward), which is only fair," Coyle said.
"He did very well at Swindon last year. There has been about 10 enquiries for Danny to go out on loan again.
"What I have said to them all is that I am going to have a look at Danny to see if he is going to be involved in my first team.
"Having made that decision I will take it from there. It's only fair.
"I want young players in my team and Danny has got an opportunity to do that.
"Ultimately, it's up to him how well he does."
The former Leeds United trainee joined Wanderers in 2007 and made his Premier League debut against Sunderland on the opening day of last season.
