Bolton will be represented in the knockout stages of the World Cup after South Korea reached the last 16.

For the first time ever, two Wanderers players were on opposing sides at the tournament as South Korea, with Lee Chung-Yong, played out a 2-2 draw with Danny Shittu's Nigeria in Durban.

Both Chung-Yong and Shittu required treatment for injuries early on, before Uche's second goal of the tournament gave Nigeria the lead after 12 minutes.

Then, goals either side of the break put South Korea infront. First, Lee Jung-Soo bundled home after poor defending from a set-piece, before Park Chu-Young converted a free-kick after a foul by Shittu on the edge of the area.

Nigeria fought back though and should have been level midway through the second period, only to see Yakubu put the ball wide from four-yards when presented with an open goal.

However, Yakubu soon made up for that miss by slotting home from the penalty spot just two minutes later.

Neither side could find a winning goal and as a result of Argentina's 2-0 victory over Greece, a 2-2 draw was enough to see South Korea advance into the last 16 of the competition and send Nigeria, and Danny Shittu, home.
