Josh Vela has committed his future to Bolton by signing a new three-and-a-half year contract at the Reebok Stadium.
Vela signed professional terms with the Trotters last March and was included on the bench for Wanderers' Premier League game against Chelsea in October.
The 18-year-old has recently returned to action after missing three months with a broken foot and he has set his sights on first-team football under the management of Owen Coyle.
"I'm delighted," Vela told the club's official website. "It's been a bit of a frustrating season for me with the injury, so I just want to continue working hard.
"My aim is of course to get into the first team and I know I've still got a lot to learn, but I feel I am developing into a better player as each day goes by.
"The gaffer and staff have all been brilliant to me and when you see that there are a number of youngsters knocking on the door of the first team it's a great incentive."
