After the first day of pre-season training, Bolton's latest recruits in Martin Petrov and Robbie Blake have both set their sights on making a positive impact.
Petrov has signed a two-year deal at the Reebok Stadium following his release from Manchester City. After earlier labelling his former club 'unprofessional', he has now set his sights on impressing the Wanderers fans and his new manager in the upcoming season.
"I want to repay the manager's faith in me by scoring goals, getting assists and helping Bolton to a good season in what I think is the best league in the world," Petrov told the club's official website.
"I am very happy with the move because when the manager told me of his plans, how he wants to play football and the type of players he will try to bring to the club, it made me want to be a part of that.
"I have always played with my heart for all the clubs I have been at and now I will do my very best for Bolton and the fans.
"I felt that the training went well today. I enjoyed it and now I am looking forward to playing for the Bolton fans and showing them what I can do."
Meanwhile, Blake, who signed a one-year contract with the club, admitted that the chance to work with Owen Coyle once again was a huge factor in his decision to swap Burnley for Bolton.
The 34-year-old worked with Coyle at Turf Moor and, like Petrov, hopes to repay the faith shown in him by the Wanderers boss.
"It is a fantastic opportunity for me. I know that I am going to have to work hard and battle to get in the side," Blake said.
"Obviously I know the manager well and it is fair to say that he brought the best out of me. It is down to me to earn the right to wear the Bolton shirt. We all know that we have to earn that right.
"Training was great today, everyone has made me feel welcome and I am looking forward to getting to know the lads better over the next few weeks.
"We've got a good squad and the mood is really bright, it was a good first day."
Petrov and Blake will both take part in the club's pre-season tour of America and Canada, with the first game taking place when Wanderers face Charlotte Eagles on July 14th.
