Tyrone Mears has returned to full training after five months out with a broken leg.
Mears suffered the injury back in August following a training ground collision with Zat Knight, just days after joining the club from Burnley.
The former Derby County defender has yet to represent Bolton, but Trotters boss Owen Coyle is hopeful the 28-year-old could be available for selection by the end of the month.
"Tyrone Mears will be back in training with us today and we're looking to have him fully fit before the end of January," Coyle said.
When Mears broke his leg in pre-season, he became the second Wanderers player to do so within a number of days, with Lee Chung-Yong suffering a similar injury.
Chung-Yong is still some way short of a first-team comeback, with his current return date scheduled for March.
