Newly-promoted Championship side Millwall have set their sights on Bolton forward Danny Ward.

Ward spent the majority of last season on loan at Swindon Town and was part of the side that lost to Millwall in the League 1 play-off final at Wembley in May.

The 18-year-old is currently training with the first team squad and is expected to face Rochdale on Saturday, but Millwall chief executive Andy Ambler admits the club have spoken to Wanderers about a possible loan deal.

"We've talked about Ward and we've talked about players from Tottenham," Ambler told the Southwark News.

"Spurs are a good club for us to go to because they do like to loan their players out.

"When it comes to players who have previously been on loan to League One clubs, they might want to put them into a Championship club now.

"Tottenham like us as an option because, even though Jon Obika didn't get much time on the pitch, they could track him easily and he could go back there for training occasionally.

"We're a perfect fit for them and perhaps that's the area we'll be going for. But some of these players won't become available until the season is about to start because they won't know whether they are needed or not."
