Bolton boss Gary Megson admits he is hoping to complete three transfers by the end of the week.

While the Wanderers boss has refused to reveal any names, reports suggest deals for Aston Villa's Zat Knight, Swansea City's Ferrie Bodde and FC Seoul's Lee Chung-Yong are close to completion.

With the majority of the club's staff in Austria for their pre-season training camp, Megson has left assistant boss Chris Evans back in England in an attempt to close any potential deals.

"Everyone is over here (Austria), except for Chris Evans, who has stayed behind in England to play a really important role for us," Megson told The Bolton News.

"We are really close to getting three transfers sorted, and we need them, because this squad is nowhere near strong enough.

"Phil Gartside has got a list of players who I feel would strengthen us, and there are also the names of players who we would allow to leave the club, but we have got to get a lot busier if that is to happen.

"This is going to be a vitally important transfer window for us if we intend to move forward, and ideally I'd like to be a bit further down the road than we are right now."
