INTERNATIONAL ROUND-UP - Sunday 9th September 2007

El-Hadji Diouf and Abdoulaye Meite helped to send their respective countries into the African Cup of Nations which begins in January.

Diouf was on the scoresheet, scoring Senegal's fifth in a 5-1 victory over Burkina Faso, whilst Meite was at the heart of the Ivory Coast defence in a 0-0 draw with Gabon.

Wanderers had four players involved in Euro 2008 qualifiers, with three of them making the starting 11 for their countries.

Nicolas Anelka played the full 90 minutes for France as they were held to a goalless draw against Italy in Milan.

Jussi Jaaskelainen played the full game in goal for Finland, he kept a clean sheet in their 0-0 draw with Serbia, after making a string of quality saves to deny the Serbs victory.

Christian Wilhelmsson played an hour for Sweden in their goalless draw with Denmark. The on-loan midfielder had the best chance of the game midway through the first half, but was denied by a good save from Thomas Sorensen in the Denmark goal.

Meanwhile, Daniel Braaten was named on the bench for Norway's 1-0 victory over Moldova, but the former Rosenborg man didn't get onto the playing field.
