DUO HINT AT DEPARTURE - Tuesday 21st August 2007
Bolton forwards Nicolas Anelka and El-Hadji Diouf have both admitted they could leave the club before the end of August. Anelka has been linked with both Manchester City and Manchester United, whilst Diouf claims there is serious interest in him from five clubs. Speaking to French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche, Anelka claims Bolton need the money from his transfer, but admits he doesn't want a return to France with Lyon said to be interested. "Even if I feel comfortable at Bolton, the club needs money, so it is possible that I will leave before the close of the transfer window. "I have nothing against Lyon. They are a good club, but I repeat it another time, I won't come back and play in France. "It is a definitive 'no'. So there is zero per cent chance of me joining Lyon." Anelka joined Bolton last August from Fenerbahce for a club record fee of £8million. Meanwhile, El-Hadji Diouf has also claimed he could be on the move, but also states he doesn't want to leave the club bottom of the table should he go. Diouf says Lyon, Tottenham and Celtic, along with two other clubs are monitoring his situation, and he would be interested in a move for Champions League football. "I have five clubs who want me but I don't want to go for going. I want to go to somewhere where I will be happy." Diouf told Sky Sports. "But Bolton want a lot of money for me. They are asking for £10million. "I want to play in the Champions League or with a club that wants to be there next season." With speculation surrounding Anelka's future, Diouf admits it would be a huge blow for the club should the Frenchman leave. "If Nicolas goes I will be very disappointed. We need to keep Nico as for three years we have been doing very well. "We need to go up to the next level and keep our good players as well as buying some more. "This season we have the Carling Cup, the FA Cup and the UEFA Cup as well as the Premier League so we need a big squad. "We don't have a big squad like last season and I'm not happy about that. I want to play in a good team." |
