DIOUF RETIRES FROM SENEGAL - Tuesday 9th October 2007

Bolton striker El-Hadji Diouf has announced his retirement from international football.

At the age of just 26, Diouf explained he was quitting the national side because of the poor organisational skills the team have.

"I have stopped my international career," Diouf told commercial radio station RTM. "There are so many problems with the national team.

"The team has a scheduled friendly match in a week and we don't even know who we are playing against. This is unacceptable."

He added: "If we have to come and play for our country, we have to pay for our own air ticket and reimbursement of the cost is another big problem."

Diouf was due to leave Bolton in January to compete in the African Cup of Nations in Ghana, but Diouf doesn't think he will be there to play.

"I don't think I will change my mind," he said.
