A team full of Wanderers returning injury stars, reserves and youngsters came away from Radcliffe with a comfortable 4-0 victory. The goals cam from Ricardo Gardner, Zoltan Harsanyi, Temitope Obadeyi and Matthew Cassidy with the hosts failing to have any real impact on the game. Wanderers can take positives out of the game, with Gardner completing 45 minutes, along with long-term injury victim Joey O'Brien and recent signing Andy O'Brien. The first real chance of the game fell to Johann Smith who was fouled in the box. He stepped up to take the penalty himself but dragged his shot wide of the post to keep the game goalless. Gardner opened the scoring in the first half when his corner from the left went directly into the net to break the deadlock, it was his first goal for the club since Boxing Day 2002 when he struck against Newcastle. Harsanyi extended the visitors lead after the break when he tapped home at the far post following good work from Leslie Thompson. Obadeyi then got himself on the scoresheet, making an excellent run down the left flank, beating off couple of defenders before rifling home from just six yards. Cassidy then wrapped up the game when he struck home from inside the area with 5 minutes remaining. Despite the one-sided affair, Radcliffe did have a couple of chances, the most notable being early in the second half with Adam Bogdan having to prevent a shot heading into his top corner. |
