Bolton's Peace Cup hopes are still alive after a 2-0 victory over Mexican side Chivas in South Korea. The Trotters were by far the superior side and Sammy Lee's 4-4-2 formation looks to be going from strength to strength. Goals from Zoltan Harsanyi and Kevin Nolan took the Whites to the top of Group A, with Racing Santander their next opponents on Tuesday. However, they had to rely on Jussi Jaaskelainen more than once as Chivas threatened on a number of occasions through counter-attacks. The first half finished goalless, but the game was brought to life in the first minute of the second half, as Bolton took the lead through Zoltan Harsanyi. The Slovakian made a run between two Chivas defenders and after picking up a pass from Kevin Davies, rounded the goalkeeper before tapping into an empty net for his first goal for the club. The game was put beyond doubt in the 77th minute when Kevin Nolan flicked a bouncing ball over a defender's head before volleying into the bottom corner from the edge of the area. Bolton now know that an equal or better result than Chivas on Tuesday will see them into the final, as the Whites travel to GoYang to face Racing Santander. |
