Bolton face German giants Bayern Munich in Thursday's UEFA Cup Group F tie. Wanderers have arrived in Germany and have trained at the Allianz Arena ahead of the tie, with some first-team regulars missing from the squad. Nicolas Anelka and El-Hadji Diouf didn't travel with the rest of the side, with both nursing injuries. Anelka is still recovering from a hamstring injury picked up against Aston Villa, while Diouf injured his ankle in the weekend draw at West Ham. Nicky Hunt was injured in the same game and will be missing for a few weeks after dislocating his shoulder, while fellow full-back Joey O'Brien hasn't recovered from a hamstring injury picked up against Manchester City. Ivan Campo is ineligible for the tie after being left out of the squad submission back in August by former manager Sammy Lee. Due to the injuries currently hampering the side, Kevin Davies is expected to start upfront on his own, being backed by a five-man midfield which should include Sunday's goal hero Kevin Nolan. James Sinclair or Robert Sissons are expected to start at right back as Gary Megson looks to field an under-strength side. Bayern meanwhile are expected to be at full strength for the tie. German strikers Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski are expected to lead the frontline, with Franck Ribery playing just behind them in midfield. Oliver Kahn is likely to feature in goal and add one more to his list of European ties for the club. More than 3,500 Wanderers fans have made the trip to Germany in the hope that their side can pull off the impossible and get a result in Munich. Referee: Jaroslav Jara (Czech Republic) boltonboi69.com's prediction: 3-1 |
