BWFC should sign Michael Owen.
I don't care if we have to flog Cahill, Jussi or anyone else to get him....Owen should be our number one priority this Summer.
It's a risk, granted, but he has pace and is a proven goalscorer. I confidently predict he will forge a dangerous and successful partnership with Kevin Davies.
If this club is to progress we have to make a signing of this statue. We have to send a message to our rivals that 17th place is not good enough for BWFC.
Michael Owen would create a buzz at BWFC, a lot of the people thinking of not getting a season ticket will change their minds and the ground will be full again.

Yer i agree we would get him for free aswell since he is set to become a free agent at the end of the month. Whether or not he would want to come to us is another story but at least lets show some ambition and go for it.

Hahahahahahahahahah sell cahill are you out of your mind now i know your a wind up merchant, cahill is the future of bolton, someone who we can build our team around, cahill is pure class young and a future england player, owen would only come for the money, he is injury prone and has done nothing since leaving liverpool 6 years ago.

That famous vision again. By following your logic we shouldn't have signed Youri, Jay-Jay or Hiero. Sometimes you have to take a punt to progress and Owen fits the bill perfectly. Yes he's had injuries and yes he'd want paying a nice wage but he'd be free and would bring the fans back to the Reebok and get the fans going again. Don't you want that?

Also whilst youve benn watching boltn in your penthouse on the tv you wont have seen cahills overall impact on the sqaud, the way commands the back 4, his reading of the game, his positioning (off the ball) and his m2m marking thats on top off what you can see, cahill was on loan at burnley for half a season he is voted one of two best centre backs ever to play at burnley in a recent poll, he got players player of the season and managers player of the season. Cahill oozes class owen ozees nothing anymore, his best attribute was pace and playing on the last man, he sadly doesnt have that anymore.

This is your problem, ignore the real issue in this thread (Owen) and bang on about Cahill. Ok, forget I said Cahill and get back on point. Don't you think the signing of Owen would excite the fans?

Lol youri campo heiro and okocha where all technical players who where very clever on the ball, who didnt need speed and read the game sensationally. You not see the link with these players they out witted the midfield, they controlled the game. They where also at the end of there careers (like most of big sams signings) the good times wasnt going to last thats why we have such a thin sqaud now. Owen relied on his speed, he has lost his speed.

I think anybody who takes on Owen would be in a similar boat as Everton were with Saha last season.
Both proven goalscorers who had lost their way through injury. He's lost that extra yard but he can still put the ball in the net. I'd have him, but he can forget about his £100k a week.

The name would excite the fans the product wouldnt. Its gone, past it, dissapeared, gone down the drain, he is finished but if megson did sign him that would be a ploy to sell tickets which i dont want, megson isnt that stupid to sign him, especially when he's after young exciting doyle, now thats someone that id love at the reebok.

If he scores a goal after 20 seconds in the FA Cup final for Bolton I'll consider it a sound investment.

Once again you miss the point by a country mile. It's becoming tiresome. You said Owen hadn't done anything for 6 years since leaving Anfield. Youri & Jay-Jay were in a similar position when they signed for BWFC. Understand?

Different sort of players, holding midfielders will last longer than a quick pacey striker FACT (in other words owen is past it, okacha heiro youri and campo could play as long as they want because they have the brain) am i being to technical for you here?!

We need all the players we can get. However, if Owen wants the same wages he got at Newcastle, then I say say leave him alone and let Hull, Stoke or Everton have him. I'd personally prefer Kevin Doyle or Jason Scotland (both would be brill). So basically, per Manny & Sir N

Sell Cahill or Jussi!
And where will that leave our defence!
A young defender who is 99% likely to improve in the future or a top quality Goalkeeper who has saved us a crazy amount of points over his time at the club for a Striker who's lost his pace, mad wages and who's definitely way past anything like his prime.
Enough said.

After transfer fees and wages both Doyle and Scotland would cost more than Michael Owen. While I agree Scotland looks a good player he has no experience of the Permiership and is, therefore, a risk.

If my name was Larry Whittam you'd no doubt agree Owen would be an exciting signing. But you all prove my point about BWFC fans being born into average-ness, you'd rather see Kevin Doyle than Michael Own at BWFC!

If BSA were in charge of Bolton, I could see where Owen could make an impact, but I doubt our Gary would get the best out him. I'll pass, thank you.

Different club, different time. If BSA wanted to take him to Blackburn Rovers now, I'm sure he'd be willing to discuss it. Have you seen his brochure?
