Some of you have been doing your exams recently - so this should be a breeze!

I got 4 out of 7 - beat that!

Well I've failed. 1 out of 7.  I did ok in the real thing a few years back so balls to the BBC and Bitesize!  Cool

That's hardly the way an English Lit exam is set out though. You use a book called Anthology all year and in the exam you are given a fresh copy without any notes. Still hard though, considering you can be given about 2 stories from a possible 200.

I got 5! If only the English Lit exam was like that, be alot easier, could fluke a decent grade at least then.

Instead we spent a year and half studying 'To Kill a Mockingbird' and 'An Inspector Calls' and by the time it got to the exam, i realised i still didnt really know much about the books!

Tell me about it, although it took me 4 attempts to get my Physics GCSE Embarrassed and the best/worst thing was I was in the top set for all of them!  And I wasn't a geek either!!! Roll Eyes

They did pay off as after Uni and 8 horrendous years at a Scottish Bank (the Royal one!!!!)  I am now in Amsterdam with a fantastic job, and terrific new circle of friends.

So I think it is true to say that an education CAN (not saying it definitely will as everyone is different) help with adult life!

I know how that feels. I was in top set for everything, but when I was studying for my science exams (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) in year 10 I was getting E's and F's so they moved me down a set. So instead of doing the higher papers in year 11, I did resits in the year 10 modules at foundation level and did the year 11 modules at foundation too.

Instead of coming out of school having failed all the science subjects, that step down got me two C's. Best thing they ever did for me!

Very well done Chris.

You are a fantastic example for some of the younger members of this forum who are just about coming to the end of their exams and possibly asking the question to themselves 'is all the effort worth it?'.

Well Chris as obviously worked hard and is now reaping the benefits - so enjoy your summer breaks, and get your heads down again in the new term and in a few years time you may very well be posting on here encouraging the next generation of Burnden Aces, with your success stories!

Well done on the 6 out of 7 as well Chris.

 Cool

Do not even remind me as I fell asleep on the train (from Amsterdam) and missed my station, last night (by 3 stations) and then had to get the last return trip back home (last train from Lelystad being midnight!).

Normally I catch the last train from Amsterdam (at 130am) luckily I didn't last night! Otherwise it would have cost me about €80 euros by taxi from Lelystad back to Almere!
