I know most forums do this so no reason for us not too. May aswell have all transfer talk in one place rather than lots of different threads.

Everton and Bolton Wanderers look set to step up their interest in Deportivo La Coruna's Riki after the striker admitted he could leave Estadio Municipal de Riazor.

We're already being linked with strikers, which is a good thing really, we need at least 2. Riki is the first we've been linked too, hopefully im not the only one who's never heard of him.

I expect us to be linked with Lita, Roberts and the usual players the minute the Chelsea game finishes too.

Never heard of the guy!

Lita - no thanks.
Roberts - Maybe, but he is not the solution to our shortage of goals IMO.

Bolton manager Gary Megson is ready to spend £9m on St Etienne striker Bafetimbi Gomis. (Daily Star)

Again ive never heard of and if we're going to St Etienne id rather us go after Feindouno, looked quality in ANC and would be ideal to replace diouf. This Gomis fella tho has been compared to Adebayor and Drogba so may not be too bad

What Wiki says about him:

Quote
Bafetimbi Gomis (born 8 June 1985 in La Seyne-sur-Mer) is a France football striker of Senegalese descent, currently playing for St-Étienne. He has been called up to the France national football team a few times recently but hasn't played yet.

Saint-Ettiene

During his time with St-Étienne Gomis' power and pace have evoked strong comparisons to African strikers Emmanuel Adebayor and Didier Drogba. Arsène Wenger also is said to be an admirer of the target man.

Arsène Wenger also is said to be an admirer of the TARGET MAN.

£9million on a target man when we've got Davo already here. We need an out and out striker.

Also, don't believe what the Daily Star says. It's good for one thing and its not their football coverage  Wink

I've now added a rumour mill page to the website.

http://www.burndenaces.co.uk/transfers/rumourmill.htm

Any names that are linked with moves (both in and out) will be put up, so post any speculation not already mentioned in this topic.

Well this from the BN has every player we've been linked with today even though most are mentioned on rumour mill page.

http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/wanderers/wanderersnews/display.var.2294626.0.megson_eyes_up_robinson.php

I would hate it if we signed Robinson. A goalkeeper who was massivly overated and who is not as good as Jussi or Al Habsi, we'd just be throwing 5million away. Dont see why we're looking for any keepers at all tbh, so dont understand this 35 year old either, i reckon we have one of the best bunch of goalkeepers in the prem, with or without Jussi.

Never heard of this guy, but bloody hell, how many right backs does Megson want. Steinsson has shown  so far he's good enough for this league and hunt, although he's far from the best, he's adequate cover.

He can go to Fulham. He's probably gone blabbing to the papers even though there's no interest in him. Give it a couple of days and you'll forget he ever existed.

Then in a couple of months, if he's still in France, his agent will get in on the act.

Never believe a thing until you see a picture of them at the Reebok holding the shirt.

This is from Tribal (WHO MAKE EVERYTHING UP!), Barnsley's Brian Howard. Decent player but not worth anywhere near £4million. Ignore it!

Another one, he just won't leave it alone. Peter Harrison saying Al-Habsi will buy out his contract.
http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=710018 Load of rubbish IMO.

Quote
"You have two weeks after the end of the season to give notice that you want to buy out your contract and I'm speaking to Ali on Monday."

If he's talking to Al-Habsi tomorrow, then he's a day too late. The season finished two weeks ago today!

As for buying out his contract, you have to have been at the club for 3 years. That article says he has but Al-Habsi only joined us in January 2006 so he CAN'T buy his contract out, as I've been saying all summer. Harrison's a tool!

Im glad im not the only one who spotted Harrison's problem of talking to Ali tomorrow when reading that article, other people dont seem to have twigged it.

And describing that tosser as a tool is far too nice, he deserves any insult thrown at him, it should actually be a national competition to see who comes up with the most offensive.

And 4mill for Brian Howard?! If we were gonna sign him, which i hope we dont, then its got to be at least half that.

Mpenza from city is the latest now.

http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Football/2008/05/28/Premier-League-Bolton-linked-to-Mpenza/

According to wiki he's out of contract (not really reliable but eh well) so if this is the case would be a good signing i suppose, strong and quick, hopefully he'd just be a squad player, not done much at city to show that he's anything close to the answer to our striker problem.

Quote
Having signed until the end of the 2007–08 season, Mpenza scored on City's first pre-season game of the 2007–08 season away to Doncaster Rovers.

Quick and strong, also quite injury prone. We could do a lot worse, but we could also do a lot better!

I see him as a similar player to Helguson and we all know how much use he was last season.

I dont think we're in need of a young striker, we seem to have a few at the club who never get any games as it is, although that said i havent seen much of them so cant make much of a comment. I think a step up from league two to the prem might also be too much, id be interested to see how he'd fair in perhaps the championship first.

P.s. Welcome to the forum, why not go over to the introduce yourself forum and well...introduce yourself, lol.

A fit Saha would be ok but we don't have the money to be throwing away on injury prone strikers.

Heard a loan deal could go through but again, his wages would be too high, considering we would only get 15-20 games out of him.

I would take saha on loan, his wages might be high, but say he scores 10-15 goals then it would have been worth it really, we know he's a proven goalscorer when fit, so if he's fit for say 20-25 games then he could easily get at least 10 goals.

The word on Bullard seems to have gone all quiet anyone heard a whisper? shame really i feel we are in need of a creative midfielder like him but since muamba joined its all gone quiet.

anyone else agree that we should really be signing 2 strikers rather than 1. because if the 'Mystery' striker is injured. we are back to the same position as we have been in since January. Be great if we signed someone big like Saha, Gomis, Elmander etc.. but also got another for a smaller fee, perhaps loan. names like Jason Roberts unsettled at blackburn spring to mind. and i would b surprised if Incey thought he was in front of Benni McCarthy and Santa Cruz in the pecking order. Cisse or Baros perhaps for around the 3mil mark would be awful, but i wouldnt go past the 4mil mark for 1 of them 2.

I can see Baros doing a job if Diouf leaves but he won't be the goal scoring striker we're looking for.
