Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson is ready to pounce for Middlesbrough midfielder Gary O'Neil.

The Daily Mail says the Trotters will offer O’Neil a route back into the Premier League if Middlesbrough lose their relegation fight.

Megson, short on midfielders following Kevin Nolan’s January exit, watched O’Neil against Newcastle on Monday.

Wouldnt be a bad signing in my opinion. He was the only one who could put the ball in the back of the net when we played them at the reebok!

Been saying for a while i fancy him. Depending on if we could get govou etc would wait and see but would be a good signing i think. Right winger we don't have. Can't see him not ending up back at pompey tho he was trying to force a move there in jan. Think he and his family want to go back.

Based on his Boro form, I'd stay away from him, but if he could recapture some of the form he showed at Portsmouth, O'Neil would be a good signing. Another guy who can score from midfield.

Maniche was good a few years ago, he's not done anything special since and has aged too. Maybe worth a year with a view to another year, but I don't know on him.

I hear that Jermiane Pennant is out of contract in the summer so I was thinking why shouldnt we try and sign him? If hes willing to join portsmouth then surely we cant be that much worse! Hes said that hes willing to listen to offers and we desperaterly need a pacey right winger. Surely hes worth a shot even though well probably miss!

Pennant brings with him a lot of baggage - like Barton I guess - but also a bad attitude too!

If some club could sort him out then they have probably got a good player - but personally I think he is over rated - not as good as Duff was - and look how Duff as disappeared since he left Blackburn all those years back.

Morrison or Govou for me please.

Never really lived up to the hype when he came through the ranks at Southampton and went to QPR.

He's done alright there to be fair but he was loaned out to Forest behind the manager's back earlier this season, even though he was their top goalscorer! For a small fee, I think he could come in as a squad player, but he could probably get first team football somewhere else. Won't happen IMO.

Aston Villa, Arsenal, Tottenham, Bolton and Hull have all shown an interest in the Hungary centre back, who is also being watched by Inter Milan and several top clubs from Germany.

Centre back – Richard Dunne (Man City):
Bolton need a centre back, that was written in big letters by Danny Shittu at the weekend. Neither he nor Andy O'Brien are good enough to partner Gary Cahill, Richard Dunne may well find himself for the chop at big-spending Man City, and a move to Bolton would mean he does not need to relocate.
Alternatives: David Wheater (Middlesbrough), Roger Johnson (Cardiff), Tal Ben Haim (Man City)

Central midfield – Stephen Hunt (Reading):
All signs point towards Joey Barton (ridiculously), but we fancy there's a real bargain to be picked up in Stephen Hunt. Loyal to the end at Reading, but there are no ties now that Steve Coppell has left.
Alternatives: Joey Barton (Newcastle), Maniche (Free agent), Robert Koren (West Brom)

Wide midfield - Steed Malbranque (Sunderland):
Unbelievably overlooked at Sunderland, Malbranque remains one of the most creative midfielders in the country. Bolton's wide options (past Matt Taylor) are pretty much non-existent, Malbranque would be a major addition.
Alternatives: Chris Brunt (West Brom), Jon Greening (West Brom), Joe Ledley (Cardiff), Gorka Pintado (Swansea)

Striker – Ched Evans (Man City):
Kevin Davies has done a wonderful job up top this season, barely helped by £11m flop Johan Elmander. Megson needs a different option, Ched Evans isn't getting a game at Manchester City, and he's the kind of striker that needs regular football to find his scoring touch.
Alternatives: Jermaine Beckford (Leeds), Fraizer Campbell (Manchester United), Riki (Deportivo)

If I had to pick one player out of each category I'd go for Ben Haim, Hunt, Malbranque and Campbell. I think we could and should aim higher though.

Dunne would be a good shout for centre back.

Robert Koren is a good midfielder and has a good touch. I wouldn't mind buying him

Malbranque - can't see sunderland letting him go unless they go down.

Beckford, I think he needs a spell in the championship before heading up to the Premiership. I think Leeds will be wanting a decent fee for him as well.

I wouldn't mind Valeri Bojinov from city

I hope Richard Dunne comes nowhere near the club! He is just another AOB in my eyes - alot of mistakes this year that have cost City.

I would pick:
- Wheater
- Hunt
- Brunt
- Campbell & Evans (we need 2! Ebi, Big Mak are off and Elmo has not found his feet and Davo is getting on a little.)

I don't understand what people see in Wheater. Very overrated IMO and his name seems to have hit the headlines because of his England call last year.

West Brom full-back Paul Robinson is a target for Bolton Wanderers.

Trotters boss Gary Megson is keen to keep the Baggies skipper in the Premiership next season, says The Sun.

I guess if he did come he would challenge samuel for the LB spot, would be a good signing in my opinion

Kamel Ghilas is being targeted by both Premier League and Championship clubs, skysports.com understands.

The Algerian international is currently plying his trade with Celta Viga in the Spanish second division.

And Ghilas has impressed with 11 goals for the Galician outfit this term, following his move there from Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes.

Ghilas - who was linked with a move to England before he joined Celta - is again attracting scouts.

It is understood Hull City, Bolton, Plymouth and Watford are amongst those interested in the 25-year-old.
