I don't know much about him, but this is encouraging. I was worried, in light of recent transfer news, that our Gary was going to debut a new 4-6 formation. (Although he still might!)

Bolton battle favourites Fulham for towering Red Bull Salzburg striker Marc Janko

Bolton have made a late enquiry for Fulham target Marc Janko.

Bolton manager Gary Megson is eager to bolster his attacking options and has been alerted to the possibility the Red Bull Salzburg striker could be available on loan.

Fulham are in pole position although Salzburg are hesitant about letting him go as they struggle to seal a replacement.

The 6ft 5in striker has been watched by Celtic and Blackburn in the past year.

That's been ruled out by his agent.

What's the bet on him offering a tin of red paint and a stick of chewing gum for Mario Jardel before the window closes?

I doubt Megson's contacts reach that far Bazza....it will be one of those where a journo links us with him then Megson denies it and then gets his scouts to check on championship manager afterwards to see if he's any good

Well only a few days left of the transfer window, and no striker or creative midfielder.

Do you actually think we will sign anyone?
or are the current signings all we will get

I've got an uneasy feeling that the latter will be correct.

Wow - so negative. There are still a couple of days left. I think our transfer business is finished, though.

For some reason that just doesn't seem like Gary's style.

Bolton in negotiations with Nantes striker Ivan Klasnic

Reports in France this morning suggest that Bolton are closing in on the signing of Croatian striker Ivan Klasnic from Nantes.

The 29-year-old is expected to leave Nantes before the end of the summer transfer window and is set to meet with Bolton officials sometime today, according to L’Equipe.

Klasnic scored six goals in 28 appearances last season following a free transfer move from Werder Bremen. He has begun the new Ligue 2 season in great form, scoring three goals in the opening four games.

Youngster you say Bazza?

Newcastle United's young striker Andy Carroll is primed for a shock exit before the window shuts - with Wolves and Bolton alerted to a possible sale.

The England under-21 prospect is fancied by Mick McCarthy and Wanderers chief Gary Megson has also made an inquiry for him.

Seems the deal is not dead - apparently his manager at Nantes is saying Klasnic want's to play the last game for them tonight BUT Bolton may well stop him if the deal is concluded before kick-off.

(Anyone speak French to confirm this from the link?) -

Disappointing since his arrival at Nantes, Ivan Klasnic is expected to play his last game in the Canaries shirt on Monday evening at Brest. Very close to moving to Bolton, the Croatian striker could however be denied the right to contest this farewell meeting in Brittany, if the Wanderers forbid it.

Klasnic at Nantes, the end of the story already?

"As I said earlier, I am currently studying different options, but a transfer does not depend solely on me."
Through a statement on his official website, Ivan Klasnic had responded to fans who were worried about his near future. The Croatian striker will soon be able to communicate other information as he prepares to leave Nantes.

He arrived on the banks of the Erdre in summer 2008 with the unwieldy label of a star in the Bundesliga (49 goals in 150 games for Werder since 2001), he never managed to meet the expectations placed on him, scoring just 6 goals in 28 appearances for the Canaries last year in Ligue 1, including a double against Lyon, but he has already found the net three times this season. Perceiving an astronomical salary in a larger surrounding, it was obvious that Klasnic would not grow old in Ligue 2. His future lies in a Premier League.
Rohr: "The risk is that Bolton forbids him to play"

And Bolton currently hold the option. 2nd from bottom of the English Premiership with three defeats in three games, the Wanderers need strengthening because they have scored just two goals since the start of the season, these only came this Saturday afternoon against Liverpool (2-3). Coach Gary Megson has made the man with two kidney transplants his priority, since Newcastle are refusing to let go of Kevin Nolan.

Ivan Klasni? could therefore play his last game in Nantes colours v Brest on Monday night. A wish that does pose some problems.
" Ivan insists on playing in Brest, but the risk is that Bolton, if he reaches an agreement with the management of the English club, prohibit him from playing,"sighs Gernot Rohr in the columns of Ouest-France.
Monday will be decisive for the former Werder player, although the wait could last until Tuesday evening, at the close of the British transfer market. And Klasnic would certainly love to leave the Hexagon on a good note against the Bretons.
