Yeah I am in total agreement! I do rate Guthrie a little more though because of his off the ball movement and also he will get stuck in a lot more.

I think it is pretty clear we shouldn't and wont be signing him

I would also love to see Guthrie back. I really liked him, and even some of my Liverpool friends were disapointed when Liverpool sold him. And no wonder when you see Lucas play Tongue

But Veloso is on top of my list!

Cisse is avaliable for another loan spell...i would be happy to have him on loan for sure. We won't be the only team thinking of this as us fulham and spurs have been linked but him elmander davies and possible one more would be a pretty good selection of strikers...best we would have had in a long while.

I remember reading a quite scathing report were Cisse said he would never join Bolton, calling us nothing more than a third rate club,

So I woldn't want him anywhere near The Reebok  Angry

Yeah, it was just before he joined Marseille i think that he called us a third rate club. Glad he managed to make a success of his career since saying that though...passed around and now being rejected by what can only be classed as a similar 'third rate club' in Sunderland.

I wouldnt be completly unhappy if he were to sign, but i wouldnt be jumping for joy either.

£6mill is what we've apparently bid for Veloso, half what we offered in Janaury. If we could get him for £6mill then it'd be a steal but thats extremely unlikely IMO.

Bolton are lining up a fresh £6million bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso.
Manager Gary Megson made a £12m move for the 23-year-old in January but is looking to land the Portugal international for a cheaper price as his contract runs down.

Looks like a case of start at £6m, our max is probably £12-13m so we'll work up gradually and see if we can get him and for how much!

If we get dragged into a bidding war I fear we have no chance, teams like Man City, Villa etc will just wait in the wings, they know how far we can go and of course Lisbon will want to hold out for the money if they're letting someone like Veloso go.

Bolton target Miguel Veloso claims Sporting hold all the aces rather than him as speculation mounts over his future.

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder stated a desire to play abroad earlier in the season and after a poor season with Sporting that dream may soon be a reality.

But for a brief loan spell at Olivais Moscavide, Veloso has spent his entire career at the Estadio Jose Alvalade but the Portugal star has alienated himself from team-mates following his previous comments.

Reflecting on coach Paulo Bento’s admission that the player could leave this summer, Veloso is keen to let the management decide his fate.

"If the coach said that I am up for sale, that is his choice, not mine," Veloso told the Portuguese press.

"He is the coach and the one in charge.

"I think what has been said of me is not correct, maybe they wanted to make me a scapegoat.

"A lot of people have said the same and I only gave my opinion that I have the dream of playing abroad.

"I do not regret anything of what I said,"

Veloso, once a Manchester United target, could now be pursued by long time admirers Bolton. Reports on Friday claim The Trotters are preparing a bid.

if its in sportings hands then i think he will leave. How can you blame the clubs lack of silverware on one player, unbeleivable. I hope man city arent going after him  Huh

tylswhite, the ITK guy on WW has had this to say on the latest transfer rumours:

Quote
Current situation on a few transfer targets.

Veloso

We are trying to tie up a £6 million deal for him in the next few weeks and Sporting seem keen on it but him and his agent arent too keen and are trying to get a "bigger" move.

Distin

Has other options and is very unlikely to come to us.

Sean Davis

Battling with Wigan, Blackburn and Sunderland to sign him on a free.

Paul Robinson

This is most likely of the four to happen for obvious reasons.

He's usually on the mark. If Veloso doesn't want to come here, let him go somewhere else! Sounds obvious to me that he wants a bigger pay day and a club possibly in Europe.

That'd be a very interesting signing, going back to the days of Allardyce almost. He also says its unlikely yo go through though.

It was in the Daily Mail this morning that Stoke wanted Scholes as a player/coach as he thinks he only has one year left as a top pro.

Obviously I'd be happy with Scholes, but being realistic, I don't think we'd get anywhere near signing him, nor do I think he'd leave United.

Or would he leave United in a similar scenario to Hyppia leaving Liverpool, get a bit of experience and head back to OT then?

And here it is:
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2455935/Scholes-is-hot-to-Trot.html

Quote
BOLTON want to give Paul Scholes a final season of first-team football.

Scholes is ready to leave Manchester United in search of one last campaign after spending much of this term on the sidelines.

The midfield maestro has grown sick of being a bit-part player at Old Trafford this season and feels it is affecting his form.

Now neighbours Bolton want him to be the central figure in their side by making him the highest-paid player at the club.

Scholes, 34, signed a one-year extension to his contract this season.

But it is unlikely United would demand any sort of transfer fee if the player asked to leave.

The Trotters would be prepared to match his wages of around £70,000 a week. It is understood Scholes would not drive a hard bargain as he is just looking to play one last season of regular football.

Stoke are also interested in making Scholes a player-coach.

But Scholes has made only the initial steps into getting his coaching badges.

Also he would not fancy the three-hour round trip to Stoke from his home in Saddleworth every day.

Bolton's training ground is less than half an hour from his house.

Scholes has started only a third of United's games this season and was once again on the bench for Wednesday's Champions League final defeat against Barcelona.

would be a good player for us my only issue is that what would the rest of the team think of them wage demands? I doubt our longest serrving player Jussi is no way near 40,000 a week never mind 70,000!

Saying that what a midfeild that would be!

Actually the more I think about it, the more I would like to see him at The Reebok,
His fiery temper has been an issue for him over the years and if we do match his £70 grand a week wage demands I hope he would try to curb it?

Nice thought earlier Jam of Taylor, Scholes, Veloso!!!

Problem is though there's nobody there to break up the play.

I'd prefer:

Muamba, Veloso, Scholes with Taylor left wing
