Lyon star Sidney Govou refusing to sign new deal

BOLTON aim to make a shock move for unsettled Lyon star Sidney Govou.

The striker, 29, is out of contract at the end of next season and is refusing to sign a new deal with the French champions.

He has spent the last 12 seasons with Lyon and wants to try his luck in the Premier League, with Bolton leading the chase.

Govou said: "My time is up. I will not be signing again at Lyon."

Attacking right winger - just what we want - and on a free (but with big signing on cost though!)

Only gossip I know but I like the sound of this one!

I just hope theres more in this story than the "Rivaldo on verge of joining trotters" stories a few years back.

He should be a decent signing if we can get him, only 29, he still has a few good years left in him!

It would be a good signing and a positive move by the club. At 29 he's at his peak and we should be able to get a good 3 years out of him.
Though I am not being too optimistic on this and I can see bigger clubs coming into play for him

Think he could be a great signing...similar player to riga...only much better. Winger/striker and scores his fair share of goals. See a more attractive club than ours coming in for him though. Someone in london perhaps but is an ambitious target i like to see us linked with.

this would be a great signing but i just hope not to get my hopes up to much just in case
but dont get me wrong it would be a brilliant signing
just hope the bigger clubs don't get attracted to him also

I don't know much about him but do know he has a good reputation.

Averaged 1 in 5 for Lyon over the last 10 years and 1 in 3 for France. If we could get him on a free it'd be a great signing, he might be able to score a couple of goals!

this type of signing would be fantastic and hopefully will put to bed the "megson only wants negative defending type players" view. i'll wait with baited breath Huh

Hearts midfielder Laryea Kingston has admitted that it is his dream to play in the Premier League and hopes to resurrect a possible move this summer.

The Ghanaian international attracted interest from a number of clubs in the January transfer window with Bolton, Portsmouth and Schalke all believed to be interested in signing the midfielder before injury struck.

Kingston is back in the Hearts squad for Sunday's clash with title chaser Rangers and is hoping he can reignite interest from English clubs by hitting form in the close season.

"I had three or four offers to go to the Premier League and one in Germany. Those clubs are waiting to see if I am back on the pitch. Every player's dream is to play in the English Premier League because it is the best league in the world," he told the Sunday Herald.

"Before the window opened in January I had a lot of options down south and it was quite disappointing for me and the club management when I picked up an injury immediately after the window opened.

"That happens in football - sometimes you are expecting something and it doesn't happen and vice versa. It didn't happen so I can't say whether I would have left."

Only 28 got a few more years left in him
granted he's only scored 2 goals this season
but never the less rumour has it megson's looking at him
i'll be keeping my eye out for him

Repeated speculation. We were linked with him last summer and in January too. He's nothing special IMO and we should be aiming a lot higher.

Might be a little early but with rumours popping up here and there i thought it made sense to just keep them all in one place until we actually sign someone, saves cluttering the board with lots of different threads.

Ill merge the other topics in to here if thats all right?

Like you said, a little early but the speculation is starting to build up and the usual shite is being floated around.

Looks like somebody is trying to drum up interest and has no intentions of signing for us.

Quote
Real Sociedad left-back Xabi Castillo has issued a come-and-get-me plea to Celtic, but also has 'interest from Italy, Bolton and Greece'.

The 23-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is keen to move overseas.

Because he is under 24, a Spanish club would have to pay £2million to secure his services.

"I have interest from Italy, from Bolton in England and Greece," Castillo said in the Daily Mail. "But what I want most of all is a proposal from Celtic.

"I wanted to make some money for Real before I left but, in football, things do not always work out as you like."
