The best for Eddie Davies (and therefore the club) would be a cheap to run but very successful football club - it would mean that we get as much as we can from the Sky prize money, whilst playing to capacity crowds at the Reebok (notice I didn't say an attractive footballing side - a winning one will bring the fans - anybody old enough to remember boring, boring Arsenal pre Wenger?)

Trouble is cheap to run usually means buying 'potential' (Muamba, Mark Davis, Elmander, etc) rather than 'established' (Jimmy Bullard, Darren Bent, Pedro Mendes, Cisse, etc) Premiership players.

Some will come good; some won't - so the team is unlikely to be a top six side again anytime soon!

We are in big debt - £53.5 million - so we have to go the cheap 'potential' way - we don't have a choice.

We therefore can't compete at the highest level - so realistic success for us would be to scrape inside the top ten positions.

Luckily we will be to strong for most of promoted clubs next season and clubs around us who have got themselves in bigger debt than us - Blackburn and Sunderland - and the second season syndrome that Hull (if they survive) and Stoke will have to go through.

So even before this season ends - I'm predicting that we will finish somewhere between 9th and 15th come the end of 2009/10.

So Davies will probably allow about £18 million on transfers (say £12 million for Veloso or equivalent and £6 million for others (centre back) and Bodde (£2 million) perhaps? - others will come on loan or free's - Sean Davis).

So maybe this next stage of the clubs rebuilding might lead to better performances and better results - I hope so anyway.

A better defence and midfield will help our forwards - so hopefully we will see an improvement in Elmander’s play next season.

It really is all a balancing act - keep in the Premier - strengthen the team - hopefully better results (even if not better performances), happier fans, less stress.

That seems to be the business plan to me.

We could not afford to get relegated whilst we had Lee / Allardyce's squad - we didn't.

We could not afford to get relegated whilst we were rebuilding the team this season  - we won't.

We can not afford to get relegated whilst we are again rebuilding the team next season - we won't.

We can not afford to get relegated any season - but if all goes to plan the team would by then be significantly improved on what it as been and currently is - and more comfortable mid table finishes will be on the cards by next season onwards!

Megson will be allowed to do the building of the team as required - so we best get use to seeing him around!

Take your points and well thats just the way it is isnt it resigned myself to the fact Megson wasnt going anywhere a bit ago unless he'd have been long gone by now.

when i say better football ye west brom played better more attractive football but just arnet solid at the back and dont have a cutting edge up front where as we have inherited a gritty apporoach to our play mainly from big sam so to build on that think he needs to buy a few midfielders who can pass and keep the ball annd some pace on the wings and up front so...

a Veloso type creative midfielder who has composure and pair him with Muamba.....

then a fast pacy(young) striker to play off Davies or Elmander maybe on loan to keep the costs down and then also a right sided midfielder with pace and who can deliver a decent cross obviously not lennon but someone like him.

then on top of that he needs to build up a squad with depth, players who can come into the squad so that means a decent centre back who can play anywhere acrosss the back 4 probably keep riga...

then as ive said before Delph and Beckford from Leeds i would like to see or young hungry players who we can improve of players.
